Fragile Existence
#Drawing #Photograph
I learn and practice in the process of controlling the uncontrollable materials, and use their unpredictable quality to create possibilities. I use form studio methods to experiment in the process, and use narrative strategies to guide me into my next steps. I create different images, drawings, and sculptures, as a result of embracing the honest reflection on my life, and challenging the perception of the viewers in a deep and open way.
Autobiography
I made all my works into a book format and complemented them with my own personal stories in words. The visual becomes an abstract poetic storytelling element.

Strawberries
I started with the observation of the falling fruits in the park. I saw them got stepped by pedestrians and created these dirty stains on the ground. It is a little bit sad. It reminds me of difficult moments in life. I found them beautiful, the colors, the motions, and the variety of the stains are amazing. Each of them was unique in its ways. Different forces, like gravity, height, the wind, or how people step on it, made a small detailed impact. It inspired me to use strawberries as materials to creates prints on paper. The fragility and the delicacy of the strawberries could generate amazing variations.
I further explored the idea of destruction and reconstruction. I sewed the sliced strawberries back together and of course, it is not going to be perfect. I believed “Destruction is a form of creation“
Sugar Glass
I moved to another material that is stronger but still would break after a strong force, and it would melt because of the high temperature. I embraced the natural quality of the sugar glass and made beautiful fragile sculptures that would react to time. I quoted Leonard Cohen “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in“. I found new opportunities in destructed creations.
Bubbles
Bubbles are a material that is extremely fragile. I learned the natural quality of the bubbles and applied small forces and changed their position physically to create visual design and dialogue. All the works are done physically on paper without photoshop.
