A Moth’s Story
#Ink #Illustration #Photoshop #Illustrator
I created this short story for my Interaction Light Sculpture. It is the story about a moth that goes on a journey to seek the light but discover its own beauty.

Inspiration
Moths are attracted to light. In mandarin, a saying describe self-destruction behavior as like a moth to a flame. On a summer night, it is also common to see moths bouncing off lamps. They die in the action of searching and chasing the light. I found it weirdly beautiful and romantic. A moth regardless of danger seeks the light. It repeatedly hits the lightbulb until it is exhausted and falls. It is not stupidity, it is a romantic belief. A hopeful faith in light.
The Story.
A moth born without colors. He wants to find his colors and his acceptance. One day, he discovered a mural that indicates four towers with unique colors including blue, green, red, and yellow. He decides to go on a journey to seek those locations and discover his own beauty. He wants to find the light that knows him, accepts him, and holds him in the dark.
Further Exploration
I experiment by using bubbles as a coloring technique to create natural textures and mysterious vibe.
